Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)

Size: 12–15 mm

Habitat: Meadows, gardens, orchards, farms.

Honey bees are highly social insects that live in organized colonies and communicate through a waggle dance.

Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus)

Size: 8–10 cm wingspan

Known for long-distance migrations exceeding thousands of miles.

Ladybug (Coccinellidae)

Beneficial predators that consume aphids and other pests.

Field Cricket (Gryllus spp.)

Famous for chirping produced by rubbing their wings together.

Mosquito (Culicidae)

Over 3,500 known species worldwide.

Ant (Formicidae)

Colonies may contain millions of individuals working together.

Dragonfly (Anisoptera)

Powerful aerial predators and indicators of healthy wetlands.

Praying Mantis (Mantodea)

Ambush predators capable of rotating their heads nearly 180 degrees.

Firefly (Lampyridae)

Bioluminescent beetles that communicate using light patterns.

Rhinoceros Beetle (Dynastinae)

Can lift many times their own body weight.

Cicada (Cicadoidea)

Some species emerge only every 13 or 17 years.

Hoverfly (Syrphidae)

Important pollinators that often mimic bees and wasps.

Cockroach (Blattodea)

Wild species play an important role in nutrient recycling.
